China passenger car retail sales last week up 28% on year – industry body

China’s retail sales of passenger cars reached 331,000 units in the week of September 13 – 18, rising 28% from a year earlier, surging 43% from the previous week and up 1% from the same period in August, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association,

Wholesale volume of passenger cars reached about 385,000 units, rising 46% from a year ago, up 46% from the previous week and up 21% from the same period in August, showed the data.

In the period of September 1 – 18, retail sales of passenger cars reached about 794,000 units, rising 10% year over year, but down 7% from the same period in August.
