China’s passenger car retail sales slid 21% on year in Jan – Feb, NEV sales rose 23% – industry body

China’s retail sales of passenger vehicles reached 1.364 million units in February, a year-on-year increase of 9% and rising by 6% from the prior month, according to preliminary data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Retail sales in the first two months reached 2.657 million units, sliding 21% from a year earlier, showed the data. 

Wholesale volume of passenger vehicles reached 1.598 million units in February, a drop of 9% year over year, but rising by 10% from the month before, showed the data. 

Wholesale volume in the first two months reached 3.047 million units, down 16% from a year earlier, showed the data.

China’s retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 438,000 units in February, surging by 59% from a year earlier and an increase of 32% from the month before, according to the data.

Retail sales in the first two months of the year reached 770,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 23%, showed the data. 

Wholesale volume of new energy passenger vehicles reached 500,000 units in February, a year-on-year increase of 58% and a month-on-month increase of 29%, and wholesale volume in the Jan – Feb period reached 889,000 units, rising by 21% from the same period last year, showed the data.
