Foshan city in southern China's Guangdong province said it will provide subsidies to new car buyers, becoming the first Chinese city to announce stimulus measures to ease the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the auto market.

According to a statement released by the municipal government, those who buy new cars that meet the "China VI" vehicle emission standards from local dealers will receive government subsidies of at least 2000 yuan per car, effective for one year from March 1.
