China has moved to permit more agricultural imports from the United States just days after China said it could impose hefty tariffs on Australian barley and blocked its beef imports.

It will allow imports of barley and blueberries from the US that meet the relevant requirements, starting from Thursday, according to notices released by China’s customs.

The move comes after China agreed in January to boost its imports of US agricultural products by an additional $32 billion over two years as part of a phase one deal with the United States.
