China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday the country will take “whatever measures necessary” to defend the interests of Chinese companies in response to the recent move by the US government to blacklist an additional 33 Chinese firms and institutions.

The comments came on the same day the new restrictions took effect.

China “resolutely opposes” the move by the US government to add those Chinese companies and government institutions to its “entity list”, the ministry said, urging the US “to immediately stop these wrong practices”.
