China's retail sales declined at a much slower pace in May after people gradually returned to normal lives and the authorities rolled out a string of stimulus measures to boost consumption, although job losses and concerns over a second wave of infections have kept consumers cautious.

Retail sales of consumer goods declined 2.8 per cent in May from a year earlier, down for the fourth consecutive month and the drop narrowing for the third straight month, shows data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
