China’s car wholesales rose for third straight month, dealers face pressure as retail sales set to decline

China's wholesale shipments of vehicles increased for a third straight month in June as the economy continued to recover from coronavirus shutdowns. However, data from car dealers shows they are still facing great pressure from high inventory and retail sales are set to decline.

Preliminary data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that total sales of passenger cars such as sedans and SUVs, as well as commercial vehicles, increased 11 per cent in June from a year earlier to 2.28 million units.
