JD.com's profit, revenue rise above expectations as epidemic boosted online shopping

Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com reported second-quarter revenue that beat expectations after the country's second-biggest online retailer benefited from an increase in online shopping amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

JD reported revenue in the three months ended June rose 34 per cent to 201.05 billion yuan ($29 billion), beating the 190.7 billion yuan average of analyst estimates. The company's quarterly revenue exceeded 200 billion yuan for the first time even. Shares in JD rose as much as 4.3 per cent in early trading in New York.
