China’s crude steel production rises despite coronavirus, accounts for more than 60% of global output

China's steel output has been rising despite the coronavirus outbreak, while production in other countries keep falling amid the epidemic, which brings China's share in global steel output to more than 60 per cent.

Crude steel output in China has been climbing since April this year after China took effective measures to bring the coronavirus outbreak under control.

In April, global crude steel output excluding China slumped 44.3 per cent from the previous month to 52.1 million tonnes, and China's share in global steel output increased to 62 per cent . . .
