China’s consumer inflation eased in August, as food price growth slowed, while factory-gate prices fell at a slower pace, as the world's second largest economy continued to recover from the coronavirus fallout.

The consumer price index (CPI) for August grew 2.4 per cent from a year earlier, showed data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday, easing from a 2.7 per cent gain in July, and in line with the 2.4 per cent rise expected by analysts.
