China's coal prices have been rising significantly amid tight supply and restocking demand from downstream industries. The rise accelerates this week amid rising concerns over production safety in the wake of the fatal accident in a coal mine.

On September 27, China's CCTD Bohai-Rim spot thermal coal reference price hit 601 yuan per tonne, breaking through 600 yuan per tonne mark for the first time this year.

According the coal exchange centre in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a major coal-producing region, coal prices in hit 405 yuan per tonne . . .
