China’s import of integrated circuits (ICs) reached a new record high in September as companies scrambled to stockpile chips amid concerns over supply disruptions due to tensions between Beijing and Washington, especially after the latest ban on Huawei Technologies, and the coronavirus pandemic.

Integrated Circuit, a collection of electronic components built onto a single piece of semiconducting material, are the backbone of almost all electronic devices. These tiny electronic components process data for products ranging from smartphones to cars and spacecraft.
