China’s excavator sales rose nearly 40% in 2020, January sales expected to surge 106%

China's excavator sales, a barometer of the vitality of infrastructure development, posted strong performance last year, amid the government push for infrastructure projects to boost the economy hurt by the coronavirus pandemic and the environment protection campaign which boosted demand for old machinery replacement.

The 25 major construction machinery producers in China sold a total of 327,605 units of excavators in 2020, representing a 39 per cent increase from the previous year, according to the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA).

That included 292,864 units sold in the domestic market, up 40.1 . . .
