China’s thermal coal prices decline as demand weakens due to Spring Festival, rising temperature

China's thermal coal prices declined in the past two weeks as the approaching Spring Festival holiday and rising temperature in most parts of China weakened coal demand.

The Fenwei CCI indexes for Chinese spot 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal price stood at 650 yuan per tonne on February 8, down 4.4 per cent from the previous month.  The China Electricity Coal Index fell to 681 yuan per tonne, down 2.6 per cent and the Yimei index for 5,500 kcal/kg thermal coal prices at port in northern China was 662 yuan . . .
