High-frequency data including indexes tracking electricity consumption, operating rates at factories and traffic congestion indices show that China's industrial production is resuming significantly faster than previous year after the week-long Spring Festival holiday as people were encouraged to stay where they work during the holiday to help contain the Covid-19 flare-ups.

To prevent the sporadic resurgence of COVID-19, China had encouraged people to stay put over the holiday this year, which lasted from February 11 to February 17.
