China's steel prices have been rising after the major steelmaking hub Tangshan ramped up production cut measures to lower carbon emissions, with steel prices in the city hitting the highest level in 13 years, and amid expectation of robust steel demand this year.

Tangshan government has required the city's 23 steelmakers to lower production by 30 - 50 per cent during the period of March 20 - December 31 this year, according to a notice issued by the municipal government dated March 19.

The stronger-than-expected production restrictions and the expectation of robust steel . . .
