China’s factory activity in March expanded at the slowest pace in almost a year on softer overall domestic demand, but underlying economic conditions remained positive even as input and output inflationary pressures intensified for manufacturers.

The Caixin China General Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) dropped to 50.6 in March from 50.9 the previous month, according to a report released on Thursday.

A number above 50 indicates an expansion in activity, while a reading below that signals a contraction. The March reading showed manufacturing activity has expanded for 11 months in a row . . .
