China’s exports surged in March amid global recovery, imports grew fastest in four years on high commodity prices

China’s exports rose sharply in March while imports growth surged to the highest in four years, signalling the global recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic is well on track as vaccine rollouts around the world pick up pace.

Exports in dollar terms surged 30.6 per cent in March from a year earlier, but slower than a record 154.9 per cent growth in February, showed data released by the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday. That compares to a 35.5 per cent jump expected by analysts in a Reuters poll.
