China’s live hog prices continue to decline despite the traditional peak season for pork demand before the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, with prices in some regions back to 2016-level.

Analysts say that the downward trend for the sector is unlikely to end anytime soon and local authorities are speeding up pork purchases for state reserves to stabilise the market.
