China’s crude steel output fell at faster pace in August amid national campaign to cut steel production

China’s crude steel output declined in August at a faster pace in August after posting the first drop this year in July amid China’s national campaign to reduce steel production.

China churned out 83.24 million tonnes of crude steel in August, falling 13.2 per cent from a year earlier, accelerating by 4.8 percentage points from the previous month, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.

That's the biggest monthly drop so far this year after crude steel output declined 8.4 per cent year . . .
