Prices of lithium carbonate, a key material for production of electric vehicle power batteries, decline for the first time in eight months as several carmakers suspend production amid the recent Covid-19 outbreaks in Shanghai as well as weak demand in a traditional low season.

Prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate fell to 496,000 yuan per tonne on Tuesday, falling by 4,000 yuan from the previous day, according to data from consultancy Mysteel . . .
