Hong Kong stocks open sharply higher on Wednesday

Hong Kong stocks open sharply higher on Wednesday after the strong rally overnight in the US, with the Hang Seng Index surging 4.3% up at 17811, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index up nearly 4% and the Hang Seng Tech Index jumping nearly 5%.

Technology heavyweights are mostly surging, with Bilibili up about 9%, NetEase up more than 6%, Baidu up more than 6%, JD.com and Alibaba gaining over 5%, while Tencent up more than 4%.

Chinese automaker BYD Company opens 9% higher after the company reported sold 201,259 units of new energy vehicles in September, surpassing 200,000 mark for the first time even and surging 183.07% from 71,099 units in the same period last year.
