China exported 51.21 million tonnes of steel products in the first three quarters of the year, falling by 3.4% on year, and imported 8.34 million tonnes of steel products in the period, sliding 22.1% from a year ago, according to the China Iron and Steel Association.Â
The country imported 823 million tonnes of iron ore in the nine-month period, a drop of 2.3% from a year earlier, said the association.
The average price of China’s steel exports stood at $1,472 per tonne during the period, rising by 32.2% from a year earlier, while the average price of steel imports stood at $1,590 per tonne, rising 25.8% from a year ago, showed the data.
