Global institutional investors have shown a significant rise in enthusiasm for researching A-share listed companies since the Chinese New Year.
According to data compiled by Wind Information, 213 foreign institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Temasek, Invesco, BlackRock, and UBS, conducted on-site survey of 152 A-share listed companies in February, marking an 18% increase in the number of institutions and a 23% increase in the number of companies compared to the previous month, when 180 institutions researched 124 companies.
The growing popularity of Hangzhou’s “Six Little Dragons” technology firms have fueled a strong rally in A-share tech stocks, led by artificial intelligence (AI) and humanoid robot concepts. Foreign institutions showed high interest in AI-related sectors such as electrical equipment, electronic components, integrated circuits, and biotechnology.
Among the most popular companies, Inovance Technology, United Imaging Healthcare, Montage Technology, Centre Testing International, Orbbec, Leisai Technology, and Shenzhen Honor Electronic have each received researches by more than 20 foreign institutions.
For instance, Inovance Technology, a robotics concept stock, was researched by BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Temasek, with a particular focus on its business layout in the humanoid robot sector. Orbbec, which drew attention from BlackRock, UBS, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Millennium Management, which focused on how large language models would impact the company and the embodied intelligence industry.
In the semiconductor sector, Montage Technology was researched by BlackRock, JP Morgan Asset Management (Singapore), Goldman Sachs (Asia), and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, while China Resources Microelectronics drew interest from Schroder Investment Management and Goldman Sachs (Asia).
Other semiconductor companies such as SmartSens, VeriSilicon, and Bluetrum Technology also received multiple foreign institutions’ visits.
AI healthcare was another key focus, with popular companies including United Imaging Healthcare, Berry Genomics, BGI Genomics, Yuwell, and Lifesense, attracting attention from BlackRock, JPMorgan, Temasek, and others.
