Chinese automaker GAC Group announced its GOVE (GAC On-the-Go Vertical EV) separable flying electric vehicle project and completed its first demonstration flight

The era of Auto 4.0 is approaching, which will bring more ambitious changes than smart cars in the foreseeable future, and that’s expected to solve the problem of traffic congestion on the ground by making full use of three-dimensional urban space, said Wu Jian, Director of GAC R&D Center.

GAC is joining hands with research institutes in the aerospace sector to build an ecosystem in flight technology and in the future, GOVE will work with Ruqi Mobility and Robotaxi to build a three-dimensional travel solution, it said.

GOVE hasn’t started commercializationand the cost will be no higher than 2 million yuan per unit in mass production of more than 1,000 units, it said. The vehicle is designed to fly at a maximum altitude of 120 meters, with a maximum manned weight of 90 kg, a maximum take-off weight of 500 kg, and a flight time of up to 25 minutes per charge.
