BYD unveils world’s first In-car drone system developed with DJI

BYD has officially launched its Lingyun Intelligent In-Car Drone System, developed in collaboration with DJI, making BYD the world’s first automaker to mass-produce an in-car drone system.

The Lingyun system will first be installed on BYD’s high-end Yangwang U8 model, along with the Bao 8, Denza N9, Sealion 07 DM-i, and Tang L. The technology is expected to be rolled out across more BYD brands and models in the future, enabling broader adoption of the new feature.

The Lingyun system consists of a drone, an in-car drone cabin, and a software system, supporting dynamic takeoff and landing, one-click return, and intelligent following functions. This innovation marks another step for BYD in breaking the boundaries of traditional mobility, creating a new paradigm of car-device synergy.

BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu said that “Technology knows no borders”, adding that BYD remains committed to making the world a better place through technological advancements.

Wang emphasized BYD’s open and collaborative approach to technology, having already established partnerships with companies like DJI, Samsung, Huawei, and Apple to build a global “technology friendship circle.”
