China, EU held high-level economic, trade dialogue

Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and Executive Vice President of the EU Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis co-chaired the ninth high-level China-EU economic and trade dialogue on Tuesday, according to China’s official Xinhua News Agency.

The two sides has pragmatic, honest and efficient discussions and constructive exchanges on four topics including macro economy;supply chain and supply chain; trade and investment; and financial cooperation during the virtual dialogue, said Xinhua.

The two said reached a series of consensus on macro economic policy coordination, cooperation on supply chain and industry chain, WTO reforms, expanding market opening, China-Europe agreement on geographical indications, animal and plant quarantine and inspection, two-way financial opening-up and regulatory cooperation, said the report.

The last round of such talks took place two years ago, also led by Liu and Dombrovskis, focusing on a landmark investment pact. By the end of 2020, Brussels and Beijing had concluded the deal, following seven years of talks, but have not since ratified it.
