China pledges to further promote battery swapping electric vehicles

China will step up efforts to promote battery-swapping electric vehicles in a move to reduce cost and support quality growth of the sector.

Xin Guobin, vice-minister of industry and information technology, said at a recent news conference that battery swapping will be further promoted.

Battery swapping will help extend the life of batteries, enhance safety and lower costs for NEV buyers, he said, adding that enterprises will be encouraged to develop new battery charging and swapping technologies.
