China should make efforts to let people have more money in their pocket in and in particular, should try every means to increase people’s income from property and let them make money from stocks and funds, in order to stimulate consumer spending, said state-run Economic Daily in an editorial on Thursday.

From that perspective, letting the capital market play a good role is necessary to restore and expand consumption, it said.

If the capital market is active, business operation will improve, investment income will increase and consumers naturally have more confidence, it said.

Therefore, boosting the consumer market, driving domestic demand and promoting economic transformation and upgrading by means of stimulating the capital market will be effective and promising, it said.
