China and the US should “overcome difficulties together in the same boat” to jointly improve bilateral ties, said Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng during a talk with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo prior to her China visit.

The both countries should expand areas of cooperation and “shorten the negative list”, Xie said.

China’s policy toward the US is consistent, Xie said. “Our fundamental guidance is the three principles: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.”

Raimondo will visit China from August 27 to 30, during which she will travel to Beijing and Shanghai and hold meetings with senior Chinese officials and US business leaders. She looks forward to holding constructive discussions on issues relating to the China-US relationship, challenges faced by US businesses, and areas for cooperation, according to the US Department of Commerce.
