China’s commerce ministry briefs foreign business associations on cross-border data flow, Anti-Espionage Law

China’s Ministry of Commerce on Friday held a round-table meeting on policy interpretation and communication for foreign business associations, the ministry said in a statement.

During the meeting, the ministry, together with the Cyberspace Administration of China, interpreted regulations on cross-border data flow, export controls and the Anti-Espionage Law, to various associations for foreign-invested companies and more than 30 member companies, it said.

Assistant Minister Chen Chunjiang said that the Chinese government has placed greater importance on attracting foreign investment and is committed to creating a fair, transparent and predictable business environment.

The ministry will make the mechanism for roundtable meeting with foreign-invested companies to play a bigger role, conduct regular communications with the companies and their associations, enhance policy transparency and predictability and provide better services and environment for foreign companies operating in China, he said.

Representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in China, the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, the South Korea Chamber of Commerce in China and more than 30 enterprises attended the meeting.
