China’s copper price hit 2020 high, analysts warn demand is weakening

China's copper prices hit a 2020 high on Tuesday boosted by expectations of an economic recovery in the country and supply fears, while the metal also hit a five-month peak in London.

The most-traded copper futures contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, for August delivery, rose as much as 1.5 per cent to 49,620 yuan ($7,074.02) a tonne, the highest level since December 30, before closing up 1 per cent on 49,360 yuan.

Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange climbed as much as 0.7 . . .
