China’s crude il imports hit third-highest on record, refined fuel exports rose 23.3% on year

China’s crude oil imports reached 52.8 million tonnes in August, or 12.43 million barrels per day, marking the third-highest on record, rising by 20.9% from the previous month and up 30.9% from a year earlier, according to China’s customs data released on Thursday.

For the first eight months of the year, crude imports rose by 14.7% from a year earlier to 379 million tonnes, showed the data.

August is the peak season for gasoline demand during the summer vacation and meanwhile, refinery run rates are increasing driven by rising oil product exports amid rising profit diesel exports margins, andsaid analysts.

Refined fuel exports rose to 5.89 million tonnes in August, up from 5.31 million tones in July and rising 23.3% from a year earlier, showed the data.
