China’s smartphone market recorded a 5% year-on-year decline in sales in the first quarter of 2023, but sales of entry-level phones priced under $150 (about 1,074 yuan) jumped 22% from a year earlier with a 12% market share, according to research firm Counterpoint.
For years, China’s domestic smartphone makers have been aggressively pushing into the high-end market, aiming to capturing Apple’s market share, however, Apple’s iPhone’s market share continues to grow and reached new highs, it said.
