China’s installed capacity of wind and solar power exceeded 700 million kWh by the end of 2022, ranking the top globally, said Zhao Chenxi, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the state planner, at a press briefing on Thursday.

Newly added installed capacity of wind and solar power in 2022 accounted for 78% of total newly added power capacity last year and power generation of newly added wind and solar capacity accounted for over 55% of China’s total generation by newly added power capacity last year, which is a very high ratio, he said.
