China’s passenger car retail sales in Sept 1 – 17 rose 2% from previous month, NEV retail sales 8% – industry body

China’s retail sales of passenger vehicles reached about 804,000 units, rising by 10% from a year earlier and up 2% from the same period in the previous month, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association. 

Retail sales of passenger cars year to dates reached 14.02 million units, rising by 2% from a year earlier, showed the data.

China’s retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 313,000 units in the period of September 1 – 17, rising by 29% from a year earlier and up 8% from the same period in August, according to the association.

So far this year, retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 4.76 million units, surging 365 from the same period last year, showed the data. 

China is expected to see the effect of “Golden September Silver October” this year and the longer-than-expected National Day holiday will boost self-driving tours and stimulate car demand, said the association.

Some carmakers has adjusted their products’ price system and marketing approaches to reverse losses, which is expected to continuously boost car consumption, and meanwhile, several regions have introduced policy measures and launched various campaigns to boost car sales, it noted.
