China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales surged in August for a second consecutive month as the country comes off lows hit during the coronavirus lockdown in the first few months of the year.

NEV sales in China surged 25.8 per cent year over year to 109,000 units in August, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Thursday.

NEV output increased by 17.7 per cent in August from a year earlier to about 106,000 vehicles, said the association. Notably, NEV sales and output both hit . . .
