China’s peak power load this summer to be 80 – 100 mln kW from 2022-level, power supply to remain tight – industry association.

China’s peak power load this summer is expected to increase by 80 – 100 million kW from that in 2022, driven by the economic recovery and higher-than-average temperature in most regions, according to the China Electricity Council.

On the supply side, the newly added stable and effective power supply is lower than the increase of power load, and meanwhile, there are uncertainties in rainfalls, wind resources and fuel supply, the council said.

In the event that normal operation of water, fuel supply and power generator operation, China’s power supply is expected to be in a tight balance in the summer peak season, it said.
