China’s exports of photovoltaic products, including wafer, cells and modules, exceeded $29 billion (about 207.8 billion yuan) in the first half of the year, rising by about 13% from a year earlier, said Wang Bohua, Honorary Chairman of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, at an industry conference.

For comparison, China’s PV product exports reached $51.25 billion in 2022, marking a new record high and 80.3% higher than that in 2021, which was the second-highest on record.

In breakdown, exports and wafers and cells grew by more than 20% year over year in each month in the first half, he said.

By region, Europe was the top market from China’s PV product exports in the first five months, which grew by more than 40% from a year earlier, while Africa is the fastest-growth market for the exports, growing by more than 120%, with exports to South Africa surging by more than three times, according to the association’s data.
