China’s retail sales of passenger cars so far in Aug rise 32% on year – industry body

China’s retail sales of passenger vehicles in the week of August 15 – 21 reached 409,000 units, rising 48% from a year earlier, rising 23.7% from the previous week, and rising 6% from the same period last week, according to the China Passenger Car Association.

Wholesale volume of passenger cars reached 384,000 units in the week, rising 34% from a year earlier, rising 11.9% from the previous week, but sliding 10% from the same period last month.

Retail sales of passenger cars reached 1.024 million units in the period of August 1 – 21, rising 32% from the same period last year and rising 5% from the same period in July. Wholesale volume during the period reached 1.007 million units, rising 31% year over year, but down 3% from the same period last month.
