China’s top steelmaking hub Hebei plans to cut 8.8% crude steel output this year, second-half output to be reduced by 16%

China's Hebei province, the top steelmaking hub in the country, plans to cut crude steel output this year by 21.71 million tonnes from the level in 2020, revealed a draft plan recently published by the environment protection authority in Tangshan, as part of the national campaign to reduce steel production to cut carbon emissions.

The figure means Hebei's crude steel output in 2020 will be about 8.8 per cent lower than that last year and in the second half of the year, the province will need to cut crude steel output by 16 . . .
