The Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.3% to close at 3,243, the Shenzhen Component Index up 0.59%, and the tech-heavy Chinext Price Index up 0.6%.

Tourism and catering companies, automakers, insurance companies, precious metal companies, airlines, oil and gas companies, shipping companies, liquor makers, electric power generation companies and coal miners led the gains.

Internet companies, software developers, drugmakers and semiconductor companies underperformed.
