Chinese battery giant CATL to announce first cars using Qilin Battery on Aug 27

Chinese power battery giant CATL will hold an event on August 27 to announce the first vehicle models that will use its Qilin Battery, following the official launch of the latest technology at the end of June, the company said on its official Weibo account on Friday.

Car brands including Li Auto, Neta and Lotus have previously said they will use CATL’s Qilin Battery.

CATL officially unveiled the Qilin Battery, or CTP (cell to pack) 3.0 battery, on June 23, saying it takes battery system integration to a new level. The Qilin Battery allows volume utilization to exceed 72% and energy density to reach 255Wh/kg, supporting vehicles with a range of 1,000 kilometers, the company said.

With the same chemistry and the same pack size, the Qilin Battery delivers a 13% rise in power compared to the 4680 battery, achieving overall improvements in range, fast charging, safety, life, efficiency, and low-temperature performance, CATL had said.
