China’s national health authority said on Tuesday that local governments were no longer required to test some imported goods for the Covid, in a bid to reduce the cost of its coronavirus prevention measures.
Local governments no longer need to test ambient foods or other goods for the coronvirus, said the National Health Commission on Tuesday, though it was not clear if the products would still be subject to checks at customs.
Frozen foods will continue to be tested, but exporters will not face import suspensions when their goods test positive at customs checks, the authority added.
