Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with US Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen on Friday, according to China’s state media CCTV.
Whether China and the US can get along in a right way affects the future destiny of mankind and the consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Biden last year in Bali, Indonesia pointed the way for the bilateral relations, said Li.
China hopes the US will hold a rational and pragmatic attitude, meet the Chinese side in the halfway and push China-US relations back on the right track as soon as possible, Li said.
The both sides should strengthen communications and seek consensus on economic issues through frank exchanges, so as to inject stability and positive energy into Sino-US economic relations, he added.
Yellen said at the meeting that the US does not seek to decouple from China and is willing to work with China to implement the consensus reached in Bali, strengthen communications, avoid misunderstandings caused by differences, step up cooperation in stabilizing the macroeconomy and addressing global challenges, and seek a mutually beneficial win-win situation.
