Chinese tourists’ booking volume of overseas trips jumped more than 11 times from a year earlier ahead of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday (Jun 22 – 24), with Southeast Asia remaining the most popular holiday destination.
Online booking volume of overseas trips for period of June 22 – 24 surged more than 12-fold from a year ago, data from China’s largest online travel agency Trip.com showed. Bookings through Alibaba-backed travel platform Figgy soared 16 times, according to its data.
According to travel agency Ly.com, 65% of outbound travelers are heading to Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Singapore.
But the average spending on outbound travel products decreased by about 10% from with that during this year’s Labor Day holiday, according to Fliggy.
