The EU has initiated an anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles and the possible measures and timetable have yet to be finalized.

Given the relatively small number of Chinese NEVS sold in the EU and the fact that most of them are produced in Europe, the short-term impact of this investigation is expected to be limited, said CLSA in a note.

CLSA remained optimistic about the competitiveness of China’s NEV in overseas markets, and believed that EU consumers will ultimately place orders based on product competitiveness.

The broker expected to see more export formats for China’s NEVs in the future, such as complete vehicle export, technology export, in-depth cooperation with local OEMs, and the establishment of overseas factories, etc., which will bring mutual benefits,.

That could help Chinese OEMs to expand their overseas presence and create incremental revenue, it added.
