Hong Kong’s visitor arrivals in Aug reached 84% of pre-pandemic level

Hong Kong’s visitor arrivals increased by about 14% in August from the previous month to 4.1 million, accounting for 84% of the pre-pandemic level, according to preliminary data released by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

Over the first eight months of 2023, Hong Kong recorded more than 20 million visitor arrivals, of which more than 16 million were from mainland China, showed the data.

Hong Kong’s tourism industry continued to recover steadily, but the pace of recovery was affected by factors such as the exchange rate, aviation capacity and the global economy, etc, it said, adding that the HKTB will organize a series of activities in the coming months to boost tourism.
