Huawei Technologies’ new Mate 60 series of smartphones has posted better-than-expected performance since launch and the company has raised the shipment target of the series for the second half of the year by 20%, aiming to ship at least 40 million new Mate 60 handsets for the full-year, reported state-backed media Securities Daily.

It’s reported earlier that Huawei has launched a campaign to stage a full-swing comeback to the global smartphone market.

With the launch of the Mate 60 Pro, Mate 60 Pro+ and the new foldable Mate X5, Huawei raised its target for this year’s handset shipments from 30 million units to 38 million units, of which 20 million unit shipments have been achieved, reported Chinese tech news outlet ITHome citing sources close to Huawei.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst at TF International Securities, predicted that the Mate 60 Pro could account for 5.5 – 6 million units of the remaining 18 million units.
