Macau, the world’s largest casino hub, recorded more than 17,000 tourist arrivals on Saturday, August 20, the highest daily figure since the quarantine-free travel between Macau and neightboring mainland city Zhuhai resumed at the start of August, according to data released by the Macao Government Tourism Office.

In the week of August 12 – 18, Macau recorded 81,798 tourist arrivals during the week of Aug 12 – 18, and the average daily tourist arrivals reached 11,685 in the week, rising by 56% from that during the week of August 5 – 11 and surging 3,609.5% from the daily average in July, showed the data.

In addition, starting from Monday, non-locals coming from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan China will be allowed to enter Macau from mainland China without getting approval from Macau’s health authority.
